GENERAL INFORMATION...

Our Mission…

...is to provide the best quality of care and service for the patient, the client, and the referring veterinarian.

The Animal Surgical & Emergency Center, one of the largest referral and specialty hospitals in the country, has been in business nearly 30 years. With board-certified specialists in numerous specialties, cutting-edge 24 hour critical care, state-of-the-art equipment, and a “team approach”, our goal is to work in partnership with your referring veterinarian, for the benefit of your pet.

ASEC's Department of Surgery is the largest surgical group in the region; so, multiple surgeons can immediately confer and discuss the management of complex cases. In addition, with multiple surgeons present each day, we are able to admit surgical emergencies at any time, for immediate attention.

ASEC’s Department of Emergency & Critical Care is equipped to handle any & all types of emergencies including trauma (i.e. hit by car), bite wound injuries, respiratory impairment, cardiac disease, gastrointestinal emergencies, endocrine disorders, and ophthalmologic conditions: not only for dogs and cats, but also for avian, exotic species, rabbits, and small mammals ("pocket pets").
ASEC's ICU (Intensive Care Unit) provides the maximum level of care for critically ill pets. Referring veterinary hospitals may transfer pets to our ICU for overnight or around-the-clock doctor and nurse care, to be transferred back to the referring veterinarian once the patient is stable. A full range of critical care equipment is on hand – including a NEWPORT E360 critical care ventilator: ASEC is the only veterinary hospital in North America, universities included, with this ventilator.

ASEC’s Radiology & Imaging Department, led by full-time, on-site board certified veterinary radiologist Dr. Jean Reichle, uses the latest digital technology for radiographic studies, ultrasonography, and digital helical CT scanning – providing cutting-edge diagnostic technology for your pet.

ASEC's Cardiology & Internal Medicine Department, our newest department, provides a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic procedures – videoendoscopy, cardiac ultrasonography, dual-chamber pacemaker placement, and many others - as well as consultation for emergency, ICU, and surgical patients.
