The Animal Surgical and Emergency Center,
accepts seven (7) persons for our
rotating internship program.
As an intern, your time
will be divided between surgery duty,
day and night emergency/ICU duty, primary
receiving, Radiology, Cardiology & Internal
Medicine, as well as rotations with other
specialties i.e. Ophthalmology, etc.
In addition, we can
help you arrange to work with other specialists
in the area, allowing the intern additional
time to focus on the particular specialty
she/he plans to pursue. This time can
also be spent visiting universities,
attending continuing education meetings,
etc.
Interns are expected
both to learn and to contribute knowledge.
In addition to daily rounds of surgical
and emergency cases, participation is
mandatory in our grand rounds, journal
review and morbidity/mortality rounds.
A lecture series is presented throughout
the year with surgical topics, guest
specialist and practitioner lectures,
and intern presentations.
A full range of diagnostic
and surgical equipment is available with
digital radiology, digital helical CT
scanner, digital Flouroscopy, AO/ASIF
orthopedic equipment, total hip replacement
instrumentation, fluoroscopic image intensifier,
MRI, endoscopy, CO2 laser, arthroscopy,
EMG/NCV analysis, ICU cages, ultrasonography,
et cetera, routinely in use.
Interns who have completed
our program have had a high success rate
in obtaining residency positions, both
in surgery and in other specialties:
radiology, anesthesiology, critical care,
etc.
Compensation includes
a base salary and incentive plan for
emergency / I.C.U. cases, health insurance
reimbursement, two weeks paid vacation,
and CE benefits.
We are located in West
Los Angeles. This is a highly urbanized
setting, 10 minutes from the beaches,
downtown L.A., Beverly Hills, UCLA, and
LA airport. Within 2 hours drive are
ski resorts, numerous beaches, amusement
parks, Palm Springs, deserts and mountains.
The successful applicant
will be one who is hard-working, self-motivated,
intelligent, friendly and who enjoys
working with others. A personal interview
is not mandatory, but is encouraged.
